Works In Progress

Our dedicated team has been hard at work, and we've made significant progress in enhancing CORA’s trail network in our area. You can help us finish this year strong and start the new year poised to start even stronger. Make a contribution to CORA today!

Over the past several months, we've completed several crucial phases of the trail-building process on different projects. Additionally, our volunteers have spent hundreds of hours maintaining and enhancing our current trail offerings. These advancements, along with new bridges placed at East Fork MTB trails and Caesar Creek trails and improved signage that creates a better trail experience for all users.

These updates not only aim to provide a safer and more enjoyable experience but also to connect communities and promote healthy, active lifestyles. We're excited about the positive impact these enhancements will have in our communities.

Access to trails for all continues to be a driver for our work as we identify more opportunities to serve in different communities. When you support trails, matching funds from a generous, anonymous donor will double support for projects like:

Little Miami Natural Surface Trail Corridor Study

CORA along with project partners Great Parks, Cincinnati Parks, Anderson Township and Anderson Park District worked with Applied Trails Research to plan what is the first large-scale multiple-ownership natural surface multi-use trail in the region.

Dr. Jeremy Wimpey, adjunct professor of Recreational Ecology at Virginia Tech and Penn State and Scott Linnenburger, both preeminent experts in the field of trails, have created an opportunity study for the Little Miami Natural Surface Trail Corridor. These are the same experts who designed the Baileys Trails in Southeast Ohio, the Duluth Traverse Trail Master Plan, the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, the Fayette County, WV Soft Trails Master Plan, and the Iron Range Destination Trail Systems in Minnesota.

We are excited to have the opportunity to bring their ecologically-minded recreational trail expertise to the Cincinnati area to create a plan for world-class trails as we look to move forward with prioritizing opportunities.

East Fork Appalachian Community Grant Study

CORA, together with Clermont County, is excited to be a recent recipient of an Appalachian Community Grant from Governor DeWine’s Office of Appalachia.

This grant will enable us to create a comprehensive plan for trail updates at East Fork. Priorities include improving trails for all user group experiences and creating more sustainable pathways that require less maintenance and minimize erosion.

We look forward to working with the US Army Corps of Engineers, ODNR State Parks, CT Consultants, Outdoor Recreation Council of Appalachia (ORCA), Clermont County, the Buckeye Trail Association, Ohio Horseman's Council, the Southern Ohio Trail Association and all community stakeholders on this project. This plan will bring a positive economic impact to Clermont County’s disadvantaged communities as well as strengthen the link between Greater Cincinnati and the Appalachian region for increased tourism and investment in our area.

Goltra Preserve

We’re excited to announce new multi-use MTB-approved trails adjacent to Mt. Airy in East Westwood.  Working with Groundwork Ohio River Valley and East Westwood community on Hillside Trust Preserved property, the first phase of the project will include just over two miles of trails between Brokaw and Montana Avenues that connect to the nearby neighborhood. The Goltra trails are also in close proximity to the Mt. Airy MTB trails. As the Mt. Airy Skills Park And Flow Trail project moves forward, CORA, in collaboration with the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Great Parks, envisions connecting the two for easier access to both.

These are just a few of the trail projects we have in the works right now. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as we continue to build and improve the trails you love!

In the meantime, you can help us keep this good work going by making a contribution to CORA. Remember, your gift will be matched up to $40,000 through December 31, 2023 thanks to a generous supporter! And if your employer also has a matching gifts program, the contribution will be quadrupled!
